Permit Approved

Well we now officially have the green light from the Council.

Our building permit came through a few days ago which is very exciting.

We have also had the Final Construction drawing come through. There were a few discrepancies the most surprising was having a window left out of the main bathroom.  Now you see it now you don't!

In our final contract there was a window but then in our Final Construction drawings there is no window!  It is not a huge drama, however I just found it weird that our paperwork goes through a QA department before being sent to drafting so this should have been picked up!  It also got us scared about what we might have missed!  So we are currently working through the drawings - with a fine tooth comb!

No more news on the property - just that we have ordered our second soil test so hopefully we should start building in about 5 weeks!

I will be in touch with more news soon.

Meanwhile below are some pictures of the Metricon Monarch Display Home.  Although we are not building this home in particular, the Whittaker does have the same floor plan. I like to remind myself from time to time that all the hard yards we put in now will pay off later...

Our home will be fairly similar with the same window configuration in the dining and family room.

Demolition Day

Almost 10 years to the day we received the keys to our home, today we began the next phase of our lives - demolishing the house to make way for our new Metricon home.

I didn't know how I would feel today but when my husband sent the first photos of the knockdown I just felt relief and shock...this was actually happening. No turning back now!

That's enough from me today....I'll let the photos speak for themselves....

The whole process usually take a few days so I will post some more photos at the end of the week!

Bring in the New Year...

Happy New Year!

Yes it has been a while, with Christmas and New Year we have just taken a well earned break...but now the fun begins.

Our knockdown will be happening later this week.  I am a little excited but scared at the realisation that this is actually going to happen.  We are going to build our new home.  So far it seems like a dream...all the planning and organising!

We have had the asbestos removed from our house and all the abolishments have been completed. Who knew how complex it would be to knockdown a house!

All the temporary fencing has been organised and we made our last visit to the house today.

This post is a little short I know but I promise to be in touch later this week with lots of pictures and stories...
